Community Profile: Meet Alessandro Giramonte

May 30, 2025

As part of our 55th Anniversary spotlight, we’re proud to feature another passionate leader contributing to the success and vitality of the Bloor West Village BIA community.

A Legacy of Craft, Rooted in Family
Alessandro Giramonte, CEO of Meaty Eats and a Bloor West Village BIA Board Director, brings a heartfelt blend of heritage, craftsmanship, and community pride to our neighbourhood. As a fifth-generation butcher, his family’s roots run deep—beginning in Rome, where his father first learned the trade at just seven years old. That passion for quality and tradition has been passed down through generations and across continents, eventually evolving into Meaty Eats, the business Alessandro and his brother Vince proudly revitalized in 2008. Since opening their Bloor West Village location in 2023, Meaty Eats has quickly become a beloved local destination.

A Market Like No Other

“Our goal was to capture the spirit of a local market—personal, diverse, and community-focused—by bringing in special products from around the globe,” says Alessandro.

Step inside and discover thoughtfully curated products, warm and attentive service, and a beautifully designed space that invites you to linger. Meaty Eats offers more than exceptional certified organic aged meats—you’ll find house-made sourdough, French-style pastries, fine cheeses, teas, and Ontario-made specialties, all carefully selected through a rigorous tasting process.

Meaty Eats is proud to be the first EU-certified organic meat company in Canada. They have worked in organic since the early 2000’s and played a key role in establishing the organic standards.

Why Bloor West Village?
The decision to set up shop in Bloor West Village was no accident. The Giramonte family was drawn to the local amenities, welcoming atmosphere, and deep sense of community. Now, as a BIA Board Director, Alessandro champions ideas that even small efforts—like caring for sidewalks or planters—can make a big difference.

Giving Back Through Food, Education and Economic Impact
Through partnerships with high schools and post-secondary institutions, hands-on culinary workshops, and local charitable initiatives, Alessandro ensures that Meaty Eats empowers communities in meaningful and lasting ways.

Small businesses like Meaty Eats are key drivers of local economic success—not just by serving their communities, but by investing in the people who make it all happen. For Alessandro, success goes beyond satisfied customers; it’s about fostering a motivated and empowered team. With over 17 dedicated staff at this location, Meaty Eats is committed to providing top-quality ingredients and a supportive environment where creativity can thrive—fueling the passion and purpose behind everything they do.

Celebrating Community, One Year at a Time
March 2025 marked two years since Meaty Eats opened its doors here—a milestone that celebrates not just business success, but a growing connection with the community, one meal and one conversation at a time.

Thank you, Alessandro, for championing both community and culinary excellence—your commitment helps Bloor West Village thrive!
